Privacy Policy

  • Last updated 13 October 2026
  • Applies to jaliawaldasalon.com

What we collect when you book with us, what we do with it, and what we will not do with it. Written to be read, not to be scrolled past.

Who we are

Jalia Walda Salon is a hair braiding salon at 3222 Hillcroft St, Houston, TX 77057. You can reach us on (832) 834‑0324.

This policy covers this website, jaliawaldasalon.com, and what happens to your information when you book an appointment, call us or walk in. Where it says “we”, “us” or “our”, it means Jalia Walda Salon.

The short version

In plain terms

  • We do not sell your information. Not to anyone, at any price, and there is no “trusted partner” wording further down that quietly means we do.
  • We collect what it takes to get you into a chair: a name, a phone number, and the style you want.
  • Online booking runs on software we rent from another company. Book there and you are giving your details to them as well as to us.
  • This site shows a Google map and YouTube clips, so Google can see that your browser loaded them. The clips download nothing at all until you tap one.
  • We ask before we post a photo with your face in it. Always, and you can say no.

The rest of this page is the same thing in detail.

What we collect

When you book, call or come in

  • Your name.
  • A phone number, and an email address if you give us one.
  • The service and the time you booked.
  • Anything you choose to tell us about your hair — length, what you had in last, a sensitive scalp. Only what you volunteer. We do not have a form that demands it.
  • For a child’s appointment: the child’s first name, and the contact details of the parent or guardian who booked it.

What we do not collect

  • No card numbers on this website. There is no payment form anywhere on jaliawaldasalon.com. You pay at the salon, or through the booking system’s own payment screen.
  • No social security number, no copy of your ID, nothing from a credit check. We braid hair.

When you just visit the site

Your browser tells our web host your IP address, roughly which city you are in, which browser you are using and which page you asked for. Every website on the internet receives this — it is how a page finds its way back to you. Our host keeps it in server logs. We do not look at those logs to identify individual people, and we have no way to tie an IP address to a client record.

How we use it

  • To book, confirm, move or cancel your appointment.
  • To call or text you if we are running behind, or if you are.
  • To answer a question you asked us.
  • To keep a record of what we did to your hair, so that next time the braider is not relying on your memory of how long the last set lasted.
  • To keep the records a business has to keep — tax, and health and safety.

That is the entire list. We do not use your details to build an advertising profile of you, we do not sell or rent them to data brokers, and we do not pass them to other salons.

Booking an appointment

Online booking runs at booking.jaliawaldasalon.com, on appointment software we rent from another company rather than something we built. When you book there:

  • You are giving your details to that provider as well as to us. Their privacy policy applies alongside this one.
  • They handle it on our behalf, to run our bookings.
  • We can see your appointments. We cannot see anything they collect for their own purposes, and we do not control it.

If you would rather not use an online system at all, call (832) 834‑0324 and we will take the booking on the phone. It is not a worse appointment.

Cookies

A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep. Here is every kind this site uses.

  • Functional cookies from WordPress. This site runs on WordPress, which sets a handful of cookies for ordinary mechanics — remembering that you dismissed a notice, or that you already sent a form.
  • No advertising cookies from us. We do not run ads on this site and we do not set a cookie to follow you to another one.
  • Google cookies, if you load the map or a video. Those come from Google, not from us. See the next section.

You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings, and nothing on this site stops working if you do — except that the Google map and the YouTube clips may refuse to load, which is Google’s decision, not ours.

Other companies this site talks to

This is the complete list. It was put together by going through every file this website is built from and pulling out every outside address the pages reach, rather than by copying a generic list.

Google Maps
The map of our address. It is set to load only when you scroll near it, so on most visits it never loads at all. When it does, Google receives your IP address and the fact that a map of Hillcroft was requested.
YouTube (Google)
The clips on our style pages, and the short video of the storefront on the contact page. The still picture you see before you tap is fetched from Google’s image server as the page loads. The video itself downloads nothing until you tap play — and when you do, it plays from youtube‑nocookie.com, the version of the player that does not set advertising cookies.
Our web host
Stores the site and keeps the server logs described in section 3.
The booking provider
See section 5.
Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Yelp, Google Business
Links only. Nothing loads from any of them while you read this page. Click one and you are on their site, under their rules.

We have no say in what these companies do with what they collect, and we are not going to imply otherwise. Their policies govern their side of it.

Photos and video of clients

We post our work, because a braiding salon that shows no work is asking you to take its word for everything. How we handle that:

  • We ask first if your face is in it. In the chair, before it goes anywhere. “No” is a complete answer and nobody will push.
  • Most of what we post is the back of the head anyway — it shows the parting and the work better, and it sidesteps the question.
  • For a child, we ask the parent or guardian, in writing, every time.
  • Changed your mind? Call us and it comes down. You do not owe us a reason and we will not ask for one.

What we cannot do is pull a picture back out of somebody else’s repost or screenshot once it has been shared on. We will take ours down; we cannot un-publish the internet, and we would rather say so than promise something we cannot deliver.

How long we keep it

Appointment and service history
While you are a client, and for a reasonable period afterwards, so a client coming back after two years still has a record.
Records the law requires
Tax and business records, for as long as we are required to hold them.
Server logs
Held by our web host on their own rolling schedule, typically a short window, then overwritten.
Photos we have posted
Until you ask us to take one down, or until we retire it ourselves.

Ask us to delete anything we are not legally obliged to keep and we will delete it.

Your choices

  • See what we hold about you. Ask, and we will tell you.
  • Correct it if we have it wrong.
  • Delete it — everything except what we are required to keep.
  • Stop the texts and emails. Tell us, or reply STOP to a text. Appointment confirmations are separate; say the word and those stop too.
  • Withdraw permission for a photo — section 8.

Call (832) 834‑0324 or just ask at the desk. There is no charge, no form to fill in, and you do not have to give a reason.

Laws such as the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act and the California Consumer Privacy Act give residents specific rights over their personal data. Those laws set size thresholds for the businesses they bind, and a single-location salon sits under them. We would rather honour the request than argue about whether we have to.

Children

We braid children’s hair, so we do hold a child’s first name and appointment time. That always comes to us from the parent or guardian who books the appointment, never from the child.

This website is not aimed at children and has nothing on it for them. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13 through the site. If you think a child has sent us something through it, call us and we will delete it.

Security

  • The site is served over HTTPS, so what passes between your browser and it is encrypted on the way.
  • Access to the booking system is limited to the people who need it to run the salon.
  • Anything on paper stays at the salon, not on the counter.

Nobody can honestly promise a system is unbreakable, so we will not. What we will do is tell you if something goes wrong in a way that affects you, rather than hoping you do not notice.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the “last updated” date at the top of the page changes with it.

For a change that actually matters — a new company receiving your details, or a new category of information collected — we put a visible note on this page and leave it up for at least 30 days. We are not going to rewrite this quietly and leave the old date sitting there.
