What Makes a Braid “Boho”
It is what the braider leaves out
A boho braid is an ordinary knotless braid with a deliberate interruption: as the braider works down the length she leaves strands of curly hair loose instead of braiding them in. Those loose pieces are what you see spiralling out along every braid. Nothing is curled afterwards and nothing is added at the end — the curl is in the hair before it goes in.
That is the whole difference, and it is why the style reads the way it does. A plain knotless install is smooth and uniform; boho is deliberately not. It is meant to look like the braids have been in a week and lived a little, on the day you walk out.
Boho is a finish, not a parting pattern. You can have it on a knotless install, and you can have it on square box partings — that second one is what people mean by boho box braids, and three of the photographs on this page show exactly that: a square grid at the crown with curls through the lengths. Ask for whichever parting you want; the boho part is the same either way.
It is not the same as French curl, though we price them identically because they take the same work. Boho leaves loose, wavy strands scattered along the whole braid for an undone look. French curl leaves a defined spiral, usually from one point down. Boho reads lived-in; French curl reads set.

Boho Knotless Braids Questions
If yours isn’t here, call (832) 834‑0324
What are boho braids?
Knotless braids with curly hair deliberately left loose along the length instead of braided in. The curl is already in the hair before it goes in — nothing is curled afterwards and nothing is clipped on at the end. They are also sold as bohemian braids, boho knotless, or goddess braids depending on who is saying it.
What is the difference between boho and French curl braids?
Boho leaves loose, wavy strands scattered along the whole braid for an undone, lived-in look. French curl leaves a defined spiral, usually from one point down, and reads much more set. We price them the same because they take the same work, but they do not look the same.
Are boho box braids the same thing?
Yes — boho is a finish, not a parting pattern. Put it on square box partings and people call it boho box braids; put it on knotless partings and they call it boho knotless. The curly hair is handled identically. Three of the photographs on this page are on a square grid, so you can see exactly what that looks like. Just tell your braider which parting you want.
How much do boho braids cost?
From $225 for a large set at shoulder or midback length, up to $385 for small braids at butt length — the full grid is on this page. The curly hair is an add-on at $60, or $70 in a colour, on top of the braiding. Call (832) 834‑0324 and we will price your length and size before you come in.
Do the loose curls tangle?
They loosen and start to knit together over the weeks — that is the trade for the look, and it is the main reason boho does not last quite as long as a plain knotless set. Sleeping in a satin bonnet matters more here than on any other style, and separating the curls gently with your fingers rather than a comb keeps them from matting at the root.
