Stitch Braids & Feed‑In Braids
Two names, one braid
A stitch braid is a cornrow — braided flat against the scalp rather than hanging loose. What makes it a stitch braid is the row of small, even divisions along the top of each braid, like stitching. That look comes from the braider taking very small, very regular sections as she works back.
Feed-in is the method that produces it. Instead of tying the extension on at the front, the braider starts with your own hair and feeds a little more in with each stitch. The braid starts fine at the hairline and thickens as it goes, so there is no bulky knot at the front and nothing dragging on your edges.
So stitch braids and feed-in braids are the same braid. One name describes what it looks like, the other how it is made. If you have seen either phrase and liked the picture, book this.
You choose how many. Two straight back is the quickest and the cheapest; four, six and eight give you progressively finer rows and more pattern. They can run straight back, part to the side, curve, or finish in a ponytail with curly hair left out at the ends. Bring a photo and we will match the pattern.

Stitch Braids Questions
If yours isn’t here, call (832) 834‑0324
Are stitch braids and feed-in braids the same thing?
Yes. They are the same braid under two names. "Feed-in" describes the method - the braider starts with your own hair and feeds the extension in gradually instead of tying it on at the front. "Stitch" describes what that method leaves behind: the row of small even divisions along the top of each braid. Every stitch braid is a feed-in braid. Ask for either and you will get the same thing.
How long do stitch braids last?
Two to four weeks looking sharp, and up to six if you wrap them at night. They are braided flat to the scalp, so new growth shows at the parts sooner than it would with individual braids - the style loosens at the hairline first.
How long does a stitch braid appointment take?
Under two hours for two braids. More braids means more time: eight small ones take considerably longer than two large ones, because the time is in the parting and the stitching, not the length.
How much are stitch braids?
From $100 for two braids, $115 for four, $125 for six and $145 for eight. The number of braids sets the price, not the length - these are cornrows, so there is no length-by-size grid the way there is with knotless or box braids. Braiding hair is $16 a pack and boho curl hair for the ends $60, or $70 in a colour, if you want us to supply it.
How many stitch braids should I get?
Two is the classic straight-back look and the quickest appointment. Four and six give you finer rows and more pattern to play with. Eight is the most detailed and takes the longest. If you are not sure, bring a photo of what you like and we will tell you how many braids it is.
Do stitch braids damage your hair?
Not when they are installed at the right tension. The feed-in start is the gentle part - nothing is tied onto your hair at the front, so your edges are not carrying the weight. What causes damage is braiding too tight or leaving cornrows in past the point where they have loosened and started to pull.
Can I wash my hair with stitch braids in?
Yes. Because they sit flat on the scalp you can get to every part easily - dilute a gentle shampoo, work it along the partings with your fingertips, rinse until the water runs clear and let them dry fully. Wrap them at night with a scarf or a bonnet and they will hold their edge much longer.
